Re: Immigration
Country has had it unless there are major changes soon.

Open door policies have put us in the poo.
Everyday thousands pour through the ports and Airports.

Because of the Dopey Leftys and the Tories broken promises more and more middle of the road electorate are leaning towards the right.

Tick Tock

And there aren't enough houses as it is so all these extra people are pushing rents through the roof. Why is this so difficult for our politicians to understand?

The real Oliver Cromwell stayed at the top of my road in the civil war.

I'm sure he would be proud of this affectation.

I think the UK establishment is waking up to the reality that the political tectonics in Europe have suddenly become fluid.

At present it is getting over a sever imperial hangover in the process.

We were stupid. That's a fact.

We should not make promises we cannot keep.

The challenge for the UK is not immigration but climate change, populism and zimmergration.

Bob on Unc'

I am neither a fan of the net figure, just the inbound worthless number

And for clarity, I would take any number of Indian doctors and Chinese engineers, along with millionaires of all colour and creed

Not quite so keen upon the more rebelious element that appear with an instant urge to change their ungrateful new hosts.

And for one, I still cant grasp why we are the willing recipient of asylum seekers from 1000's of miles away - the treaty just does not work that way

Cameron has really made a cunt of himself, seems to be pretty good at that.....

Re: Immigration
Immigration to the UK from EU countries has been largely harmless and probably an economic benefit overall.

Non EU immigration has been a political issue though, very questionable as to how our non EU immigration policy has been managed.

Re: Immigration
The official line is to blame the LibDems and the EU etc. But for those pair the Tories would have dramatically pared the rate of immigration down.

Still having being found out Dave Blair will not make the same mistake again.

Uncle Junior 9:28 Thu Feb 26
Re: Immigration
Net migration is a red herring ... The real immigration figures are 624,000 mainly poor low life scum IN and 327,000 mainly nice white wealthy OUT
You don't need a degree in pure mathematics to work out what will happen with another 10 years of that

Dr Congo 9:06 Thu Feb 26
Re: Immigration
Plain daft to "promise" any such thing. Being in the EU (which I'm mostly happy with) put it outside his control, he could no more promise it than promise, say, a warm summer.

Three conclusions:
a) Cameron and his advisers were too stupid to realise this;
b) They thought the public were stupid enough to fall for the tough message and then forget about it.
c) the sub-text was really what used to be called "coloured migration" but he couldn't use that term.

My money's on c)

'So whats ENGLISH culture then..'

Forming an orderly queue.
Not making women cover their faces.
Being polite and respecting others (including immigrants).
Religious toleration
Oh, and most of all, speaking English.

'why is it in the five years your lot have been in that it takes two weeks to see a doctor and not in an immigrant area?'

Because since the genius Blair gave them an eye-watering 25% rise in their salaries in return for them not having to work at weekends or in the evenings our GPs have become a bunch of work-shy cunts.

Gavros, you made a point about London being the least populous major capital city. Fair point.

Got me thinking, how long before some right on, hipster politician decides to create an administrative capital (like Washington, Ottawa, or Canberra) in the UK and place it in Manchester or Glasgow to bring jobs for voters and votes for them?

mentor always bangs on about English culture but gets very defensive when asked for an example.

I've never seen him make a decent contribution to a cricket thread so maybe he doesn't know himself.
